Jan. 27----An FDA advisory commitee on Thursday supported a proposal to simplify COVID vaccinations by allowing health departments and pharmacies to use the bivalent vaccines as the primary vaccine series, rather than restricting the use of the updated vaccines as boosters only.
—Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties remain at medium risk for COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's community levels.
The latest CDC data show an estimated 12 new hospital admissions per 100,000 people in Allen County in a seven-day period, while the percentage of staffed inpatient beds occupied by patients with COVID illness fell to 3.5%.
—There were two additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 reported in the five-county region in the last seven days, including one in Allen County and one in Auglaize County, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
—Allen County Public Health will continue its influenza and COVID-19 vaccination clinics from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at the health department, 219 E. Market St., Lima, through February. The clinic will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20.
